Lowry Ruins Canopy
Lowry Ruins is a part of Canyon of the Ancients National Monument.
The Lowry site was added to the National Register of Historical Places in 1966. The original pueblo was constructed around 1060 AD. The ruins exist of a 35-room, 2-kiva pueblo and great kiva occupied through 1200 AD. Lowry was home to around 100 people. This project involved designing and constructing a new canopy to protect a deteriorating portion of the ruins, which included the great Kiva. This canopy provided much need protection and preservation of the ruins from the elements as well as an esthetically pleasing structure that would blend with the original character of the ruins.
