This project consisted of preserving and renovating the Hale, Lamar and Superior Bathhouses, which are multi-story buildings. Bathhouse Row, where these historical buildings are located was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in November of 1974. The National Park Service was charged by Congress to “preserve and protect” the resources in this park. The goals of this project were to preserve these National Historic Landmarks and modernize the bathhouses, original constructed in 1920, enough for tenant lease upon completion.
